It's tea o'clock at Atwood
Chicago, for all its rough and tumble beginnings, always carried an air of class to its growth. Rising in the shadow of New York, the Second City has made major claims to class with the World’s Columbian Exposition (a.k.a. Chicago World’s Fair) in 1893, second-to-none skyscraping architecture, and originating a style of pizza that requires a knife and fork.
Atwood, located in The Alise Chicago, is continuing that tradition by offering afternoon tea.
The British (naturally) originated the idea of tea and an assortment of snacks including finger sandwiches in the 1840’s as a way for aristocrats to show other aristocrats that they were, in fact, aristocrats.
At Atwood, ALL are welcome to enjoy some of the standards of a classic afternoon tea. In standard Chicago fashion, Atwood’s tasty “finger foods” are ample and include macaron lemon bars, a mini-crab cake with cilantro cream, gruyere puff, cheddar thyme biscuit, and a pumpkin soup shooter to name a few.
The tea menu is also quite extensive with flavors like organic pineapple (surprised?), bombay chai, organic african nectar, and white orchard to accompany the classics.
